Meet Our Staff
Mike Lee
Director
While living in St. Louis, Missouri, Mike and his wife Dana were greatly impacted by God during a Life Action Summit at their church. After several years of attending summer Family Camp, The Lees surrendered to full-time ministry at God’s leading in 2005. Mike serves as the Director of Life Action’s Retreat & Conference Division which includes The Camp and The Lodge outreaches. Dana has her Master’s degree in teaching and has a passion for women’s ministry and speaks regularly in various retreats and small group settings. Mike & Dana have 7 children.
Jimmy Herdklotz
Pastoral Director
Jimmy's desire is that every detail is ready for our guests, and also that our Camp staff is ready to minister. One of his strengths is in the area of discipleship ... coffee and conversation. It is his desire to see God begin His work among our staff so that we are serving with our entire lives, not just with our hands.
Jimmy Finch
Worship Leader
Because we already have a Jimmy, we like to call him "Finch." He and his wife, Christi, traveled with one of our road teams leading worship, but now they've decided to settle down in Michigan (not an easy thing for southern folk to do). His role involves assembling teams of worship leaders and overseeing the meeting facilities.
A. J. Newell
Youth/CREW Leader
A. J. oversees and organizes the things you see from the platform, both in the adult sessions and in the children's clubs. He ensures that we have a variety of media and interaction, helping you relax and prepare to let God speak to you. A. J. and his wife, Sarah, work with the youth during Family Camp.
Jim Fredericks
Ministry Relations
Jim has spent the last many years working with the Facilities Team and as Guest Services Manager, but recently he was given the role he really loves—praying for people. He and his wife, Cheryl, have taken on this area of ministry together. He also stays in contact with our donors, discovering how we can pray for them. Jim has always been faithful to help wherever he's needed.
Bill Harvey
Guest Services Manager
Bill's combination of computer skills, organization, and personable nature are perfect for this role. He oversees the office work and keeps everyone on the same page, making sure all guests have everything they need. Even his years spent in the facilities group provided him with insight that allows him to coordinate with several different departments at once.
Glen Reava
Facilities
Glen works with our Facilities Team and is our resident mechanic. We have plenty of vehicles around here to keep him busy, but no one gets by with just one role around here, so he works with the construction as well.
Henry Rademaker
Facilities
Henry has worked at the Camp as long as anyone, and since he has worked in facilities and construction most of that time, he has either built or remodeled just about everything you see, his latest masterpiece being the cottage. Henry is one of those faithful guys who takes on a job, and the next thing you know, it got done without anyone ever having to worry about it.
Ray Canfield
Facilities
As retired business owners, Ray and Wanda dropped by to see some friends, and ended up staying for years, working as volunteers and acting as grandparents to the staff kids. Ray works with our Facilities Team, and in the summer you will often find him on a mower. He is quick to share stories and laughs with anyone who wants to talk.
Wanda Canfield
Landscaping
Wanda is that person to whom everyone gravitates. Her natural charm was an asset for several years in Guest Services. However, she also enjoys being outside and working alongside her husband, Ray, so now she gives some TLC to the camp's gardens.
Adam Toledo
Food Service Manager
Adam loves to make sure that the meals are perfect for each group; and if you pay attention, you might see one of his food sculptures. Adam also oversees our summer volunteer program, serving as mentor in camp work and in spiritual walk. So contact Adam if you're interested in volunteering your services (or those of your teenager) during the summer.
Jeff Herdklotz
Food Service
Jeff works hard planning menus, cooking, ordering food deliveries, and making sure the kitchen is spotless for inspections. His teaching background and calm demeanor also have uniquely equipped him to have an impact on those young people who work with him throughout the summer.
Chuck Deinum
Activities Manager
Chuck comes to us by way of Houston, Texas, where he operated his family trucking business. He brings his dispatching expertise to the program department, making sure the "workload" is spread equally among the program staff ... ensuring that each of them gets a chance to drive the ski boat and play paintball.
Dave Carroll
Activities
Dave was living, working, and raising his family locally. He began to approach each of those roles with more serious intent after attending our Momentum Men's Retreat. Now God has brought Dave's love of sports - well, the Cubs and Fighting Irish anyway - and his friendly personality to serve at camp.
Jeff "Spanky" Mann
Activities & Marketing
Spanky's natural eye for graphic design has led him into the expanded role of Marketing Coordinator, designing mailers, e-mail reminders, and our e-news. He designs the notebooks and writes the devotionals that you see at Camp, as well as maintaining the website and Facebook pages. He still works with Chuck to make camp fun, especially when dreaming up events for families.
